Financial Dashboard
The financial operating layer for firms using STAR.
Replace repeated STAR exports with fast, frozen, navigable financial views for WIP, net billings, collections, AR, budgets, and historical analysis. Review the firm through the dimensions that matter, then move from firm-wide rollups to client and engagement detail instantly.
Built for STAR • frozen periods • configurable dimensions • budget / CY / PY / PTD / YTD context • summary-to-detail navigation
What firms get immediately
WIP, Net Billings, Collections, and AR in one place
Frozen periods with optional live daily refresh
Navigate by firm structure, client hierarchy, and custom dimensions
Move from summary to client and engagement detail
Stop rebuilding STAR reports by hand
Most firms do not have a lack-of-data problem. They have a reporting-friction problem.
The numbers exist in STAR, but turning them into something the firm can actually review often means repeated exports, spreadsheet stitching, manual cleanup, and side-by-side reconciliation. By the time the reporting is ready, too much effort has already gone into preparing the numbers instead of reviewing them.
Financial Dashboard removes that reporting treadmill. It gives the firm one fast, consistent financial operating view so partners, managers, operations leaders, and leadership can spend less time assembling reports and more time working from them.

What changes in practice
Less manual STAR report assembly
Fewer side spreadsheets and one-off workbooks
Faster review of WIP, net billings, collections, AR, and budgets
Shared numbers across partners, managers, operations, and leadership
Easier movement from summary to detail
Historical periods preserved as they were
Built on your practice management data.
Configured to match your firm.
Financial Dashboard starts with the core financial numbers coming out of STAR and turns them into a fast, frozen, navigable reporting environment.
STAR remains the system of record. Financial Dashboard becomes the place where the firm reviews, compares, and works through those numbers without rebuilding the same reporting around them.
It is built primarily for firms using STAR, while also allowing data from CCH ProSystem fx Practice Management, IRIS Practice Engine, and other practice management systems to be incorporated where the starting financial data exists.
Configured to match your firm, not the other way around
The platform supports standard STAR dimensions and can also use client-specific custom fields in the navigation hierarchy, so the reporting model reflects how your firm actually organizes and reviews the business.

Common navigation lenses
Industry, Office, Service line, Entity, Franchise
Employee (Partner, Manager, Supervisor)
Client hierarchy (Parent/Child relationships)
Standard STAR dimensions
Custom STAR fields (Firm-specific hierarchies)
See the financial picture in one place
Financial Dashboard brings together the core views firms repeatedly need to review: WIP, Net Billings, Collections, and AR.
Instead of assembling multiple STAR reports just to get to a usable starting point, firms can work from one environment where the key financial views are already aligned and ready to review.
For Net Billings and Collections, firms can also compare Budget, CY, PY, PTD, and year-to-date context through the selected period.
Core operating views
WIP
Net Billings
Collections
AR
Context in the same view
Move between current performance, targets, prior-year context, and historical comparison without jumping across separate reports.
Move from firm-level signal to client and engagement detail
Financial Dashboard is not a static dashboard. It is a navigable financial workspace built to follow the firm from summary into the underlying detail.
Start at the firm level, choose the lens that matters, and move directly into the part of the business that needs attention. At broader levels, the lower pane can show ranked views such as Top 10 clients by WIP, Net Billings, Collections, or AR.
At more specific levels, the view naturally shifts from ranked summaries into detail grids such as Client Folder Details, then into child-client and engagement or project-level records.
How the progression works
Start with the firm-wide picture
Choose the hierarchy or role perspective
See ranked views where ranking makes sense
Shift into detail where detail makes more sense than ranking
Move into child-client and engagement or project records
Stay in the same reporting environment the whole time
Fast enough to use live.
Stable enough to trust historically.
Financial Dashboard is built on pre-compiled views, so navigation feels immediate and the reporting experience stays fast even as users move through the hierarchy.
That matters because firms do not need another tool that slows the conversation down. They need one that lets them review the numbers while the discussion is happening, not wait for reports to rebuild.
At the same time, closed periods can remain frozen, so the firm can always go back and see what the numbers were at that time. For open periods, firms can use a live-view approach with daily prior-day refreshes, and hourly generation where appropriate.
How the refresh model works
Pre-compiled views for fast navigation
Closed periods remain frozen
Open periods can refresh daily using prior-day data
Hourly generation is also possible
Many firms prefer daily frozen review for stability and consistency
Bring more of your financial reporting into one place over time
Financial Dashboard is not limited to standard STAR-only views. The lower reporting area can support custom panels that bring additional reporting into the same operating environment.
That means firms can compare outside data sources, such as ADP, against STAR measures like Net Billings and review them within the same period structure and navigation model.
Over time, Financial Dashboard can become the place where firms stop gluing spreadsheets together manually and start reviewing more of their financial reporting in one automated, historically preserved workspace.
What can expand over time
Third-party reporting panels
ADP and similar external data sources
Comparisons against STAR measures such as Net Billings
Additional lower-pane analytical views
More reporting needs in one preserved environment
Why this matters
Fewer disconnected workbooks
Less repeated spreadsheet glue work
More reporting in one review flow
Shared periods and historical consistency
A clearer path from reporting to action
What makes it operationally useful
Financial Dashboard is not just easier to look at than manual STAR reporting. It is more usable in practice.
It gives firms one place to review the numbers, move through the business by the structure that matters, preserve historical periods, compare targets and performance, and follow questions all the way into the underlying detail.
That is what makes it useful day to day for partners, managers, operations leaders, finance teams, and leadership. It shortens the distance between reporting and action.
Replaces repeated reporting work
Spend less time exporting, stitching together, and rechecking STAR reports by hand.
Supports real day-to-day use
Useful for partners, managers, operations, finance teams, and leadership — not just executive review meetings.
Keeps targets and performance together
Review budgets, current year, prior year, PTD, and YTD context in the same flow as actual performance.
Preserves history credibly
Frozen periods keep historical analysis stable even when the firm’s structure changes later.
Follows the firm’s actual structure
Use standard dimensions, custom fields, and firm-specific hierarchy design to reflect how your firm really operates.
Turns review into follow-through
Move from firm-level rollups into ranked views, client detail, and engagement or project records without rebuilding the path manually.
